Chalk Board Classes (CBC)
Why Chalk Board Classes?
We work with the migrant worker community, including seasonal and semi-migrants, who are employed in both organized and unorganized sectors. When these migrant workers come to Delhi, they face numerous challenges, such as:
– Documentation Issues: – Migrant workers often struggle with documentation, preventing their children from getting school admissions. Problems like not having an Aadhaar card, lack of local proof, and difficulties in opening bank accounts are common.
– Seasonal Migration:- Many migrant workers return to their villages during the farming season, causing high dropout rates among their children.
– School Environment:- Bullying, corporal punishment, and discrimination in schools lead many children to drop out.
– Post-Covid Impact:– Many children have not been able to return to school after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chalk Board Classes (CBC) addresses these issues to ensure a brighter future for these children and helps them claim their rights. By focusing on education and providing a supportive environment, CBC aims to break down the barriers that migrant children face and help them achieve their full potential.
What We Do
At IYRC, we run a transformative program called Chalk Board Classes (CBC). This initiative is designed to address the educational needs of children in the migrant community, identified through comprehensive baseline assessments. Our findings revealed several critical barriers to school attendance, including:
To tackle these challenges, IYRC established CBC to provide quality education tailored to the needs of these children. With the expertise of seasoned educators, we have developed a comprehensive teaching and learning manual that emphasizes practical learning, creativity, and recreational activities, making education engaging and effective.
In addition to delivering education, IYRC supports students with the mainstreaming and admission processes in government schools. We maintain regular contact with the students to periodically assess their academic growth and ensure their continued success.
Through CBC, we are committed to empowering children in the migrant community by providing them with the education they deserve, helping them build a brighter future.
